Shabbat Afternoon Classes
Each Shabbat afternoon, following Kiddush luncheon,
join Rabbi Jeni Friedman for an in-depth adult education
study session. Previous years’ subjects have included
the weekly parasha and commentators, the Book of Proverbs and Mishna.

Stop The Rollercoaster!: Special Class For Parents
of Teens
Being the parent of a teenager is both incredibly
special and unbelievably challenging. Being the parent
of a Jewish teenager adds additional challenges and
opportunities for an even richer connection to one’s
child. Please Stop the Rollercoaster! is a guide for busy
parents of teenagers who find themselves unsure of
their changing role. Grounded in research, this book
offers a wealth of practical, succinct information. It
guides parents to examine and discuss the most
important issues they are likely to face. The hands-on
approach helps parents understand their developing
adolescents. This book is aimed for parents with teens
in grades 6 - 11, and is approved by the National
Middle School Association.
Join Rabbi Alan B. Lucas for a meaningful look at this
book through a Jewish lens.
Parents of Jewish teens will gain the following from the

- Learn from the experiences of other parents,
- Explore and discuss the role of God and faith in raising their teenagers,
- Learn how to be intentional, not reactionary, in their words and actions,
- Learn how to improve communication with their teens,
- See the important way they influence their teen’s engagement in risky behaviors,
- Thoughtfully examine key issues before being faced with a crisis,
- Benefit from developing a supportive network of peers.
This course will meet on five Monday nights during the
school year from 8 - 9 pm:

Course Cost: $36 TBS Members, $54 Non-Members of TBS.

Walking with Justice
This course, designed and edited by Rabbi Bradley
Shavit Artson and Deborah Silver of the Zielger
School of Rabbinic Studies, addresses ideas of Jewish
global responsibility and social justice. Join Rabbi Jeni Friedman
as we ask: What are Jewish perspectives
and attitudes on the environment, business ethics,
international economic justice and inclusiveness of
persons with special needs?
This course meets for a total of 1½ hours on Tuesday
nights in the library beginning at 7:15pm, breaking for
evening minyan at 8:00 pm, and continuing for 45 minutes after minyan.
D.A.R.E - Discussion and Activity for Retirees and Empty Nesters
Join us each week for lunch and socializing as we listen
to a variety of speakers, watch engrossing videos, and
discuss current events.
Beginning Monday September 8, 2008.
Mondays 1-3pm in the
TBS Board Room.
$5 membership fee and $1 weekly lunch fee
